Clusters
We have clustered the 56 cell cycle genes that were determined to be
differentially expressed using the K-means algorithm. We observed three
different classes of expression patterns, that indicate different levels
of interactions between the knocked out factors (Fkh1 and Fkh2) and the
changing genes. Most of the genes (the 45 genes contained in
cluster 1 seem to lose there
cycling ability as a result of the knockout, and thus indicate a direct
effect of Fkh1 and Fkh2. The other 11 genes cluster into two distinct clusters.
Cluster 2 contains 8 genes and
cluster 3 contains 3 genes. While the
expression patterns of these genes change between the WT and knockout
experiments, they do not completely lose their cycling ability. Indeed,
8 of these 11 genes are bound by Swi5, indicating an indirect effect of the
Fkh1/2 knockout.
